“The heating boiler doesn’t always go wrong between 9 and 5, what can I do to survive a cold night without heating and hot water”?

Firstly, switch off the boiler and call Entropic, leave a message explaining the situation; we will call you first thing the next morning to make urgent arrangements to get you comfortable again. Please leave us a telephone number we can contact you on between 07.45am and 08.15am.

Secondly, check your airing cupboard, most homes have an immersion heater as backup for such an emergency, if you have one, switch it on (there will be a thick wire running from the immersion on the cylinder, to a switch on the airing cupboard wall, simply press the switch down and you should have hot water within 20 minutes or so.

Thirdly, keep what heat is in the house as long as possible. Close all doors and windows, dig out all the spare blankets and covers you can find. Fix a large cup of cocoa, and go to bed with a good book, and socks on.
